HIKE06: Timber Mountain via Ice House Saddle

I'm so far behind!   I want to be up-to-date before our next big hike tomorrow, so this update will be light on prose.   Fortunately, it was much of the same as our Ice House Saddle hike...only this time we went an extra mile to the top of Timber Mountain.  The sun was much warmer than our last visit (and most of the snow was gone too.)  Great hike.  Liz pulled a muscle on the way up and had to fight through the pain for the last two miles of ascent.  I don't know if it's the yoga or what, but she kicked that pain's ass and we triumphed.  We originally talked about going all the way to Telegraph Peak, but that would have added another three miles to our round trip.  We ended up clocking 11.2 miles, making it our longest trek with the greatest climb (3,400 feet) to date, so no need to overdo it.

I'll make up for the lack of commentary by posting a few really big images...

Hazy view of the San Gabriel valley a few thousand feet below...

Old Baldy still had some snow...

We took the same longer way down as last time.  No scary hillside snow...

Some of the Our Lord's Candles we saw last time were now in full bloom...

The warmer weather made for more melt and stronger water flow.  Perfect for a little break...

OK.  That's it.  More soon...
